diesel cars in the first quarter of 2012 have jumped 35 percent. Since latest

BMW is not the only automaker in the world to manufacture
environmentally-friendly diesel engines, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen have also
been awarded with manufacturing world class diesel engines which are available
in theU.S.The report further reveals that the yet-to-be launched diesel engines will come
with features such as 2.0 liter four-cylinder diesel engine which produces 180
horsepower and 280 lb. ft. of torque. The oil burner will feature the latest
direct-injection technology. BMW officially states that the new diesel engine
will be their highest mileage engine and will outperform their previous hybrid
offerings.
BMW also claims that the new diesel variants will have significant
mileage improvement features over the current 35d engine which is available in
3-Series and X5. Diesel variants are expected to hit the market with all-new
eight speed automatic transmissions. Both diesel engines announced by BMW will
utilize SCR technology to reduce emissions in order to be legal in all the 50
states. Since theU.S.has witnessed an increasing cost of diesel which has outpaced gasoline, few of
the diesel cars have been certified for sale in the country.
